Hornady V-MAX
.223 Remington 55-grain Ammunition

by Timothy Banse

Hornady v-max .223 REMINGTON

Designed around the hard-hitting performance of the Hornady V-MAX bullet, this premium ammunition was specifically designed for supremely-accurate, long-range shooting. Its polymer tip enhances accuracy and lends explosive expansion on impact. For the record, the tip also increases the ballistic coefficient and stabilizes the bullet in flight. This load is accurate, consistent, clean burning, and reliable.

I recommend them to predator hunters. You probably already know Hornady's V-MAX bullets are renowned for fragmentation. More particularly, the 55-grain bullet is absolutely devastating on prairie dogs and coyotes. Know that on larger animals, the VMAX carves out an impressive, albeit, shallow wound cavity in soft tissue, which is to say, in an areas without much bone. Coyotes are the biggest game I'd suggest shooting with the V-MAX. The simple truth is varmint loads are unsuitable for large game.

Each and every Varmint Express cartridge is hand inspected to insure there are no cosmetic flaws and imperfections. Each individual cartridge is loaded to optimal pressure, velocity, accuracy with tight lot-to-lot consistency. V-MAX bullets shoot accurately enough for predator hunting at ranges out to 300 yards, or further yet out of a bolt action rifle with slower twist rifling.
